Creating a Template

This guide walks you through the Aigeon editor so you can create your first template from scratch. You'll learn how to navigate the workspace, add content blocks, and preview or send yourself a test.

Opening the editor

Go to Templates → Create template. The editor has three panels:

  • Left — a palette of block types you can drag onto the canvas (Article, Header, Image, Button, Poll, Divider, Ad slot, Custom HTML).
  • Center — the canvas. Drag blocks here; click any block to select it.
  • Right — settings for the currently selected block.

Adding blocks

  1. Find the block you want in the left palette.
  2. Click and hold, then drag it into the desired position on the canvas.
  3. Click the block to open its settings in the right panel.

The Article block is the workhorse for newsletters — it combines a headline, body text, optional image, and a CTA button in one component.

Personalizing content

Reference any contact property with {{contact.first_name}}. Flow context variables use {{context.*}}. Use {{!-- default value --}} syntax for fallback values when a field is missing.

Previewing and testing

  • Preview — renders the template against a real contact (you pick which one).
  • Send test email — sends to your own address so you can see how it renders in Gmail, Outlook, or Apple Mail.

Saving

Click Save in the top-right corner of the editor before stepping away. Every save creates a new snapshot — you can roll back to any previous version via the Edit history panel.

Tip: Start with one of our "Manual" template structures to get comfortable with the interface before exploring the full component library.
